“(Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)” Numbers 12:3 NIV
“I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.”
Song of Songs 2:1 NIV
“The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God.” Isaiah 35:1-2 NIV
A while ago I was on my way to Bible study when my daughter put on the song ‘Above All’, by Michael W. Smith. As the song was playing, I was taken back to a memory during her childhood, when on a weekend she and her sister were on a visit to their dad’s house. I wanted to buy that song so badly on cd.
I remember going to the Bible bookstore to buy it, and then playing it over and over. When they came back from their visit, my daughter came back very ill. She told us that she had been pushed by her father for trying to pick me a flower. My children have loved me so tenderly and with such respect, that I often see and feel God’s love through their caregiving. I was reading scripture in Numbers regarding how Moses was such a humble man. There is no doubt in my mind that it was his humility that allowed him to have a face-to-face relationship with God.
It took Jesus’s great humility to die on that cross. The Rose of Sharon was trampled on for us. Now, because of His great sacrifice we have the intimacy of the Holy Spirit living within us. How many times does God demonstrate His great love for us? I think sometimes He demonstrates it in the love of a child.
